'Fabric Of The City' Kit launch Photography for Adidas & Birmingham City FC
We recently had the pleasure of being asked to capture photography alongside Rhoda Pond Productions and SM2 Studio for the new Birmingham City FC and Adidas 2019/20 home kit launch.
This was such a refreshing challenge as unlike most football advertising photography this had a slightly different concept entitled ‘Fabric Of The City’ with the inspiration for the shoot coming from the hit TV show Peaky Blinders.
In 1875 the club, known then as The City Club, was born to the working classes, deep at the heart of the industrial revolution. The city had become the back bone for British manufacturing, sprawling with back-to-back housing for the growing workforce.
From the pubs to the workhouses and factories, Birmingham City FC has been proud to be a part of resident’s lives for 144 years.
We used the incredible National Trust location ‘Back to Backs’ which provided an authentic working class backdrop, a haze machine to create an industrial smoke effect and then suits from the wonderful Garrison tailors, who provide suits for the Peaky Blinders show.
The Birmingham City players were such a joy to work with and really got behind the campaign, making it a very enjoyable experience indeed. We hope to work alongside the Blues again in the near future!
